Armed with a degree in Fashion Design from the Design & Arts College of NZ, and invaluable design industry experience as Creative Director at the New Zealand Wool Growers Marketing Ltd, having pioneered many fashion events in New Zealand, Pranay Baidya returned to his roots in Calcutta to launch the label "PRANAY BAIDYA ATELIER" in 2011. His hand crafted pieces, built on the vision fusing old with the new, blend tradition and innovation while deeply embodying the cultural values of this many splendored nation.
Pranay has designed many successful collections for large format stores like Fab India and is currently retailing nationally through leading multi-designer stores and online @ www.pranaybaidya.com, offering a bespoke Bridal range as well as a prêt range suitable for day and evening wear. His exquisite designs are very popular among stylish fashionistas and celebrities who regularly visit his atelier and trunk shows to order bespoke pieces.
Pranay Baidya’s collection of Sarees, Lehenga’s, Fusion ensembles & Menswear helps support ethical fashion in India! “We work with a number of communities within Bengal to embrace many traditional techniques such as weaving, embroidery, printing and dyeing to create the individual pieces. Through this we work on ensuring that we can bring benefits to improve the daily lives of local artisans and our environment in as many steps as possible.” These exquisite limited edition pieces are all hand crafted at their atelier in Kolkata.

Pranay Baidya Atelier’s charming viewing room, housed in an early 1900’s Bengali home off Elgin Road, with its incredibly high ceilings and an eclectic collection of heirloom colonial furniture, artifacts and antiquities collected from the designers many travels overseas are guaranteed to be a treat for connoisseur and lay person alike.
In 2017, Pranay Baidya has set up a Delhi Atelier housed in an Art Deco bungalow in Defence Colony, New Delhi. "The idea was to celebrate my rich Calcutta heritage and global travel experiences with you all in Delhi" The space is curated as a Bengali home from the 50's packed with heirloom furniture, eclectic collection of Art and objects of desire.
